Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is located in the northeast of Cabo San Lucas on the Sea of Cortez. It is a popular dive destination and is known for its warm waters and exotic marine life. This marine park was established in 1995 to protect one of the three remaining living coral reefs in Western North America. Serious conservation efforts have contributed to the growth of corals and increase in fish population.
Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is home to 6,000 marine creatures. Humpback and sperm whales also seek the warm waters of El Bajo during winter. Some whale sharks are known to visit El Bajo during the fall season.
