October 5 – 11, 2014

Our first live aboard trip to the remote Midriff Islands of the Sea of Cortez aboard the “Adventure” was so successful we have decided to repeat it in October 2014.
The Adventure is a nicely set up liveaboard diveboat that takes  groups of divers to the rich diving areas north of La Paz . . . This area, called the “Midriff Islands”, includes Cerravllo Island, Espirtu Santo Island, Los Islotes, Suwannee Reef, and the amazing Isla Las Animas, (The Spirit Island).
The Midriff Islands offer the best of Sea of Cortez diving. But your trip does not have to be all diving all day. If at times you don’t feel like diving you can get a ride to shore where you can hike and explore these beautiful, remote, uninhabited Islands. Bird life and unique plants abound! Also snorkeling and sea kayaking are available at no additional charge.
If you have not seen it here is a brief review of our last trip . . .

We have just returned from Amigos Del Mar’s first annual liveaboard trip up into the Sea of Cortez aboard the beautiful live aboard dive boat “Adventure”. Kevin and Ishmael led the group of 10 intrepid divers and even though we hit some bad weather (wind mostly) we still had some great diving!!
Sitting here as I write this I’m picturing the baby Sealions at Los Islotes; these almost newborns were amazingly frisky and inquisitive. They dove down to blow bubbles at the divers and to chew on their hands and fin tips. We had a massive school of hammerheads at the El Bajo seamount that can only be described as “Hammerhead Wallpaper” From left to right, from the bottom to the surface all you could see was Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks. In addition to these animals we saw many, many Moray Eels in several varieties, we saw lots of nudibranchs and several seahorses , we saw octopus and starfish. It goes without saying that every day we encountered the huge schools of reef fish that the Sea of Cortez is noted for. Add to that a couple of playful, curious sea turtles and you have the makings of a pretty great trip.

The boat was very comfortable for our group. The two person staterooms were more than adequate and the 5 meals a day were excellent! My personal favorites were the grilled Carne Asada (that’s flank steak for you gringos) and the Orange Glazed Chicken. From “pre-breakfast” through omelets or pancakes at the regular breakfast, through the homemade soups severed with our lunches to the various snacks and beautifully prepared dinners we sure ate well!!
Does that sound great or what?
The dates of the trip for 2014 will be October 5th – 11th 2014.
The cost is $1,590.00 per person which includes all meals; starting with Sunday dinner, it includes an open bar, it includes all the National Park Fees.
